Love Loss and What I Wore - (Interactive Dramatic Comedy) Directed by Moe Harrington
A play of monologues and ensemble pieces about women, clothes and memory covering all the important subjects—mothers, prom dresses, mothers, buying bras, mothers, hating purses and why we only wear black. Based on the bestselling book by Ilene Beckerman.
"Funny, compelling…Brought down the house…but [the play] is not a comedy: A story about black cowboy boots becomes a sad tale of being underappreciated in a relationship; a tale of two women shopping for their wedding outfits ends bittersweetly; and the recollection of a new bra is a quiet testament to a women's search for dignity while undergoing treatment for breast cancer." —NY Times. "So funny and so powerful; so dear and sweet; so remindful of our female wiles, our worries, our insecurities, our remembrances of mother, father, sisters, brothers, lovers — I think it can't miss." WowOwow.com.
RESPECT - A Musical Journey of Women - (Interactive Musical) Directed by Gina Holsopple (Tent.)
A Musical Journey of Women is a high-energy, historical and hysterical look at women's changes from 1900 to today as illustrated by popular song (New Times), portrayed by a narrator and three breath-takingly talented singers. It is a lively and engaging look at music’s depiction of women, as they go from codependence to independence, from Someone to Watch Over Me to I Will Survive and beyond. Interwoven between the music are monologues—real women’s stories, which give more meaning to the songs. The show includes 63 song excerpts and grew out of playwright Dorothy Marcic’s research and subsequent book (published in 2002) on women’s Top-40 songs, which showed how women are portrayed differently in each era. Her one-woman show, which traveled all around the US and the world, developed into the current musical theater production.
Bullets for Broadway - (Interactive Murder Mystery) Directed by Derek Potocki
A sort of sequel to The Altos, although no knowledge of the first play is required. Gangster Tony Alto & his wife Toffee are back, in a story that answers the question, what would happen if the Sopranos met The Producers. Toffee wants to be a Broadway star and Tony needs to "clean" some money. So he has hired two producers to mount a hit musical - "The Mafia Queen" - starring Toffee. The only catch - the show must be sold out opening night and get great reviews, no matter what it costs - or else! Leave it to Baxter Mallystock and his playwright partner Eli Blain. You're invited to the party after opening night to revile as the reviews come in, along with the FBI and a few stray bullets. It's a brand new evening of Mystery, Comedy, Music and great Food which just goes to prove that sometimes when people say they're going to make a hit, they mean it!
An Act of God - (Interactive dramatic comedy) Directed by Paul McKinney
The One with the first and last word on everything has finally arrived to set the record straight. After many millennia, and in just 90 minutes, God (assisted by His devoted angels) answers some of the deepest questions that have plagued mankind since Creation.
“Delivering a new and improved set of Commandments, as transcribed by the man we might call the Moses de nos jours, David Javerbaum, God is really killing it up there. How funny is the guy? He’s Jon Stewart funny, plus Stephen Colbert funny. (Mr. Javerbaum has written for both.)…Verily I could quote every other line from Mr. Javerbaum’s annotation of the Scriptures and gather a chuckle, so deliriously funny is he as a sort of amateur theologian and stand-up comedy genius rolled into one.” - The New York Times
“Javerbaum’s radical rewrite of the Ten Commandments—the evening is structured around God’s introduction of revised laws—is clever and even refreshingly positive, insisting on the separation of church and state and encouraging us to believe in ourselves, not some elderly white guy in the sky.” - Time Out (New York)
“The jokes keep landing—nearly one per sentence—and…they are always smart. But Javerbaum [is] too theatrically savvy to leave it at that. Another note, slowly introduced among the zingers and rim shots, eventually becomes dominant, and this one, while still funny, is darker and potentially more theologically challenging than mere spoofs of Bible stories.” - New York Magazine
