ROBERT VAN WAR
Robert began his music career in the mid 80's, co-founding Attika in 1985. Attika received numerous accolades, with their self-released debut receiving a jaw-dropping 5-K rating from Europe's foremost metal publication, Kerrang! In 1989, they were named Best Metal Band by Florida's prestigious JAM! magazine.
Their acclaimed sophomore album, When Heroes Fall was released internationally by Massacre Records in 1992. A re-release of When Heroes Fall was released by the European metal label, Pure Steel Records in 2019. It was followed by the reborn Attika’s new 2021 release Metal Lands.
Robert is also the vocalist for the upcoming Onward album with guitar virtuoso Toby Knapp. Onward’s first two albums in the early 2000's were released on Century Media Records. Robert came to Knapp's attention through social media, after hearing the progress on his new compositions. The arrangement started with guest vocals on one song, and progressed into Knapp asking Robert to sing the entire album, filling the shoes of the late Michael Grant.
When Robert was growing up, watching the Monkees on TV and listening KISS records began to fuel his childhood desire to be a singer. To him, singing was a gift and using that gift to write music and lyrics that connect people emotionally is paramount and why he enjoys and continues to sing today. It is who he is!
